If you aren't a spammer and aren't a troll and aren't mailing
something to me that belongs on the Usenet or a Mailing List, I'd
love to hear from you.

1. Send a mail with a BLANK (empty) body to:

alanconnor AT

earthlink

DOT net, with

2x3t9b4

on the Subject line.

(any number of spaces before or after the password is okay --
the password changes now and then)

My address must be alone on the To: line and the Cc: line must
be blank

Any mail sent to that address that doesn't conform to the
above guidelines is silently dumped by my filter.

2. You'll receive a very short auto-reponse that has my real
email address and the URL to this page in the body and

Response From Alan Connor

on the Subject line.

All mails received at the alanconnor address that elicit an
auto-response are archived for future reference.

If you receive an auto-response from me and did NOT mail me,
then your address has been maliciously forged and I will
happily turn the headers from the offending mail over to
you. I will also search the rest of the archives for mails
with similar information in the headers and turn any I find
over to you.

3. Only the address you used to send the original mail will be
passlisted at my real address.

(If I mailed _you_, that address of yours is passlisted at the address I ma

4. Mail sent to my real address should:

A. Be in Plain Text if possible. Please. HTML and MIME mail
are a drag.

B. Contain no attachments or images without prearrangement.

C. Be less than 20K (about three single-spaced typewritten
pages) without prearrangement.

5. Any mail that isn't passlisted and doesn't conform to
the above guidelines is silently dumped by my filter.

Sorry about the hassle, but I will not put up with spam or
trollmail or people that can't tell the difference between
a private mailbox and a public forum.

If you are responding directly to a post of mine on the Usenet
or a Mailing List, send your response THERE!

Allow at least an hour for your email address to be passlisted
here.

Alan Connor

I should say, featuring such hits as "Meet The Beavis" (to the tune of "The
Flintstones"):

Beavis,
meet our Beavis,
He's the wacky troll on comp.mail.misc,
Beavis,
reading Beavis,
Endless laughter is your only risk.

And who can forget the haunting theme "Beavis of comp.mail.misc", to the
tune of "The Addams Family":

He's stupid and he's kooky,
He never had a nookie,
He looks like a midget wookie,
The Beavis of comp.mail.misc.

And, if you call now, you get, completely free, 100% digitally remixed THX
version of "The Beavis Bull", to the tune of "The Brady Bunch"L

This is a story,
Of a kook named Beavis,
Who was spewing all his nonsense all day long,
Everyone knew it's full of bull,
There's no doubt,
It's 100% all wrong.

So call now, operators are standing by!!!

> Allow at least one hour for your laughter to subside down.
>
> Usenet Beavis

First 100 callers will also get a free copy of the Beavis FAQ.

Too bad for you, Beavis, that the sites are configured as follows:

RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} ^MSIE$
RewriteRule ^/(.*) http://www.geocities.com/suhatrasabib [R]

Wouldn't affect anyone's browsing, except for Beavis's alleged venture into

This system works REALLY good for Usenet traffic (which
has fallen off by 99% ROTFLMAO :-)

One of the keys is to set fetchmail to leave any mails
with bodies that have more than 0 lines on the server.

~/.fetchmailrc:

poll pop.earthlink.net
tracepolls
proto pop3
user "foo"
pass "foo"
is alanjconnor here
and wants mda "/usr/bin/formail -ds /usr/bin/procmail"
fetchall
limit 0
flush

[Note: I don't read the posts of "Sam" or any of his
many aliases, nor any responses to them.]

Correction: That doesn't work. I reset it to a figure large
enough to allow headers through, but no significantly-sized
body.

Procmail, however, has no problems dumping a mail with
anything in the body:

Good news, everyone!

You hear that? You can all disconnect and shut down all those RAID hardware
that you use for the full NNTP feed. Why?

Why, according to Beavis, Usenet traffic is down 99%.

Dunno, maybe Beavis's super-duper newsreader got screwed up and won't open
alt.binaries.bigfoot-porn any more, so he thinks that it's gone.

> Correction: That doesn't work.

That shouldn't be a highlighted correction, Beavis. Any technical advice
you post is automatically presumed to be bogus, until proven otherwise.
Explicit statements to that effect are not require.d

Not getting any email Alan? People not sending responses to your
challenges so you have to post a how to mail you in a public forum to
get email from people that you say are spammers and whom you try and
fake logs to show they tried to send you an email.

That is a sad existance my poor friend.

Sam, you missed the obvious here you know. Butthead here has to post
a FAQ on how to send him email.

You must first ask yourself, er, well know that he reads the log files
to see who is trying to send him email. He post here about how people
are trying to email him.

Now he post an FAQ because he isn't getting any email.

Hmmmm.....

Wait, you gave me an idea! I just remembered how Beavis likes to post his
procmail logs.

I just had an excellent idea how to prove whether Beavis's claims are true,
or not. Oh, gawd, this is going to be soooooo funny.

I'm just weighing whether it's worth it, to put my plan in action. It's
positively _evil_.

Indeed. But it's all a matter of timing. You need to pick the right time.

Beavis is in a pickle, right now. On one hand, he has loudly stated, many
times, that he is running a magical Usenet reader that automatically
identifies every post that makes fun of him, and hides it from his view.
If that's true, then right now he should have absolutely no idea what's
heading this way, which I'll explain in a moment.

When he begins squealing, patently clear that he could only
have figured it out by reading this thread, it should be quite a hoot.

Beavis has waved his balls many times, regarding his amazing mail filtering
skills, and how wonderful challenge-response harassment is. All of Beavis's
friends, including Bigfoot, have seen Beavis's procmail logs umpteen times.

Therefore, it's a simple matter to craft a single, innocuous message to
Beavis that would look _NO DIFFERENTLY_ then garden variety spam. I can
simply fish a sample out of my spam bucket, change a few things, with the
end goal of making a joke at Beavis's expense, and mail it to him, making
sure expressly that this message should be autodeleted or challenged,
according, by his amazing mail filter.

The message will look exactly like garden variety spam in his procmail logs.
The only way to know that I sent it would be to open it, and read it.

Therefore, if Beavis comes barging back in here, pissing and moaning about
me, that's going to be archived as a proof that Beavis is full of shit, and
his amazing spam filter isn't.

And if he doesn't, it means simply that anyone else can do the same, and
Beavis will be forced to read it, but not being able to emit a single squeak
in response, in order to maintain his charade.

So, that's the basic plan. The only thing that remains to be decided is the
precise timing. After not reading this post, Beavis is going to retreat to
his bunker, keep quiet and try to figure out what to do about this.

Let him wait. Maybe this is what I _really_ planned, maybe it isn't, and I
just want him to _think_ this is what I'm going to do, while the _real_ plan
gets set in motion.

Muahahaha.

It all depends on whether or not he's taking his meds the day you try

There is another theory that this has already happened.
