How can I relay mail from my ISP?

How can I relay mail from my ISP?

We use an Earthlink business account, that provides us with full email
service for 30 users. We use a mix of Outlook and Mac Mail on our
laptops. It works fine from most locations.

Unfortunately, we cannot retrieve our email while we work on location
at client sites because the clients typically block port 110 on their
corporate firewalls.

Is it possible for us to create a "mail relay or transfer" machine,
that will:
1. synchronize with the Earthlink mail server
2. provide a webmail interface for us

mail.earthlink.net (port 110)
|
mail.our.officeserver.com
|
webmail.our.officeserver.com (port 80)
|
our laptops

We have a Linux server that we are willing to use, to run a mail
transfer service. We are not willing to explore anything that is
Microsoft based.

Thanks

Fetchmail to pop you mail from earthlink to your own server. Then run
Squirrelmail on top of Apache on your own server.

( If replying by mail, please note that all "sardines" are canned.
There is also a password autoresponder but, unless this a very
old message, a "tuna" will swim right through. )

No need 'to create a "mail relay or transfer" machine' because these
services already exist, sometimes even for free, i.e. a webmail service
which offers POP access to *other* MSPs (Mail SPs).

For example even the free Yahoo! Mail webmail service offers that. I.e.
the user uses the webmail interface on Yahoo! Mail to get (via POP) the
mail from his Earthlink mailbox.

If the user also needs to send from webmail, but with his Earthlink
address, you will have to buy upgrades to Yahoo! Mail Plus. However with
the free account, you can set Reply-To: (but not From:) to the Earthlink
address.

There are other free webmail MSPs which allow to set From: as well,
but I know only a German one, which probably does not accept customers
from the US.

So you might want to rephrase your question and look for webmail SPs
which offer POP access to *other* MSPs, if needed with settable From:.

BTW, does Earthlink not offer webmail? If so, that's rather strange
for a major ISP/MSP/NSP.

BTW2, if you respond again please also clearly specify the client
platform(s). I assume it's "Mac" because you mention "Mac Mail", but we
also need to know the OS. We need this information in order to be able
to determine/suggest possible client-based solutions.
