Installers are fine as they hide complexity that users do not want t =
face when installing a new product.
The installer shipped with Essentials 5.0.16 (on Windows) however does =
not always work, as I and other users have experienced.=20
In my view, there should be no options presented to the user during the =
installation process. The common settings settable via the Config Wizard =
should be set by the Installer. Then, just press the Install Start =
button and wait for completion. The result would a standard, initial =
configuration that would have been thoroughly tested to work without =
fail.
For users that need different configurations or finer control, there =
should be easy-to-use Config Wizards available to eliminate the need to =
have go into .ini files and edit text by hand.
MySQL is a fine product that will be even better when install and =
configuration functions have been improved .
