how can I rescue my email from the formats of Netscape and Outlook Express

how can I rescue my email from the formats of Netscape and Outlook Express

On November 12 I posted and asked if there was a way to get my email
out of Netscape or Outlook Express and into plain text. I'd pay good
money for such a program, and wondered if someone had already created
such a thing. An interesting conversation ensued, but my question was
never answered. The discusssion was here (in Google Groups):

I'm thinking of hiring someone who can write a program for me to do
this. I need a program that can go through my existing email and make
it into plain text. But before I hired anyone, I wanted to ask again if
anyone knew of a program that could do this for me.

How do I get my existing email into plain text?

Your question *was* answered, so I suggest you re-read the thread,
specifically Sam's response and mine, which was:

Your Thunderbird (you said "Thunderbird", not "Netscape") folders are
already in mbox format, which is plain text format, so just *copy* (not
'export') the files which contain your Thunderbird folders (without the
index files).

For Outlook Express: As I said, Thunderbird can import Outlook Express
folders, so use Thunderbird to import your Outlook Express folders and
then use to above mentioned procedure to copy the Thunderbird folders.

If you have *additional* questions, i.e. some of the answers were
unclear to you, then *ask*, but please don't keep silent for over a
month (i.e. you never even responded) and then say that your question
was not answered when it clearly was!

See above and before.

See http://www.emailman.com/conversion and try the Aid4Mail link.

"Another option lets you save your email without file attachments or, if
you want to save even more disk space, as plain text messages."
