How to open Yahoo, Hotmail or GMail locally ?
How to open Yahoo, Hotmail or GMail locally ?
am 26.12.2005 19:39:38 von kejoseph
I need to know whether there is any way via which I can open Yahoo,
Hotmail or GMail web based mail systems using a thick client (similar
to Outlook Express using POP). I am on Win 98/2000. I thought
Thunderbird did this but it seems to do only POP.
Hotmail had come up with this a while back but I think its long
discontinued. If there is something ideally for Yahoo I would
appreciate if you could let me know.
Thanks,
Kevin.

Most mail clients do POP and/or IMAP. The free web-based sites don't
tend to offer POP or IMAP because they want to make money off of you
viewing ads.
See http://www.emailman.com/hosting/addresses.html for some utilities
that will act as web to pop gateways.

See FreePOPs (), which you can use for all
three. If you main use is Yahoo! Mail, you can use YPOPs!
(). I use YPOPs! for several Yahoo!
Mail accounts and I'm very satisfied with it.

Gmail offers POP. I use it exclusively that way. Go to their website to find
out how.

GMail offers pop3 over SSL only
(so the client must support SSL as OE or ThurderBird).
Yahoo offers pop3.
Hotmail offers webdav connection (under outlook express).
