Yahoo Mail Problem - digits in address being stripped off

I have two Yahoo e-mail accounts that I access via POP. One of them
has two digits at the end of my username. In the past few days, I've
had two friends report problems with e-mails to me at this address
being bounced back occasionally. Strangely, the bounced message that
comes back does not show the two digits in my address. They've been
stripped off. It looks as if my friends have e-mailed the wrong
address, but they haven't. (My address is in their address book
properly.) The user id without the digits is not known to Yahoo, so
Yahoo bounces it back at them. Again, this does not happen on every
e-mail they send to me, only occasionally.

I've had not reported problems with my other address which has no
digits in it.

Has anyone else been having problems?
