Microsoft Hotmail refuses to accept spam reports
Microsoft Hotmail refuses to accept spam reports

Microsoft Hotmail refuses to accept spam reports except from a
"MSN/Hotmail hosted account".
My SMTP server received a lottery phish from IP address 65.54.249.27,
which translates to omc2-s17.bay6.hotmail.com. It had the
X-Originating-IP and X-Originating-Email headers that Hotmail says are
necessary:
X-Originating-IP: [196.2.124.250]
X-Originating-Email: [onlinewinners3@msn.com]
Although I followed the instructions in:
http://postmaster.msn.com/cgi-bin/dasp/postmaster.asp?Contex tNav=Guidelines
report_spam@hotmail.com rejects the spam report. I tried placing the the
spam message with full headers in the body of the message. I also tried
it as a MIME attachment. In both cases, I got a:
> Unfortunately, in order to process your request, Hotmail Support needs a
> valid MSN/Hotmail hosted account.
abuse@hotmail.com does the same thing.

I have reported abuse@hotmail actions in "[lame-abuse]" threads.
abuse@hotmail.com refuses to take responsibility for dealing with spam
send by *.hotmail.com servers.
First time it was autoreject just like you report by some bot.
[ it lasted 5 weeks+ ]
Second time it was human reject [most likely "single click" reply].

I gave up on Hotmail. First their autoresponder is broken (try mailing
from user+detail@your.domain: it responds to detail@your.domain),
recently they started to flood my mailserver with 419 scam. Now they
are blocked by the firewall. Hmm, I should document that on my WWW
pages in case some poor soul actually uses that "service" and tries to
reach me.

reply to top-postings which include a full copy of the previous

is too lazy to trim his article, and it's wasting the time of all readers.

Huh?? So, in order to report abuse you have to join their dark legion?
Unbelievable. I'm trying to understand that restriction...

I too have decided to ignore HoTMaiL now, and have done this to my
Sendmail access file :
From:hotmail.co.uk REJECT
From:hotmail.com REJECT
poor_soul@hotmail.co.uk OK
.... for the few people I know that still like it.
BTW, could I condense those REJECT lines to a single line ?
(Sorry, I guess this belongs in comp.mail.sendmail. I didn't want to
crosspost though.)
Chinzon.

They spam all non-hotmail user and advertise with "hotmail is
spam-free". And by accepting no complaints they can keep doing their
business.
