What would help save this forum is for everyone to not read the
articles of trolls who posts through GG, don't use a name in
their From header, and use throwaway, untracable gmail addresses.
I'll set a good example by taking my own advice.
[Note: I don't read the posts of "Sam" or his numerous
sockpuppets or his 'friends', nor any responses to them.]
All of the aliases on this thread besides mine are actually
"Sam". No real people will talk to the pathetic loser anymore.
He's been killfiled more than anyone on the Usenet, considering
the number of aliases he uses, which he has to change all the
time because they keep getting killfiled.

Tell me, my man, why should we in this newsgroup particularly care about
this forum, no matter how nice and pleasant? Why is it that you omitted
any description of it, barring its URL (and even that had to wait for a
followup post)?
You appear to be playing silly games, attempting to get people to visit
your site (for it surely is yours), for whatever reason. That reason is
possibly that you're selling something at your site and abusing this
newsgroup for your advertising.
No thanks!

Well I was trying to hurry. Pardon me. I fogot the link.
The site deals in many areas. It is similiar to these groups. It has
Windows, Linux, and Mac Discussions. Security Issues, Internet and
Email, Networking, Software, Hardware, etc. There is an area for all of
it. I'm sorry if you all think I am spamming. I just wanted to try to
do a good thing for the forum and recruit more members. I am new to
google groups and I did not realize it was a sin to do something like
this. My apologies.
You can see my name in my email. BlueDragon is what i use on the forum.
Sorry for the spam. I did not intend it to be.

What the FSCK are you talking about?
If you *have* to use Google to post, please do everyone a favour and at
least /quote/ some of the material you are responding to. Please read

OK. But you should also look up the term "multi-posting" to see why that
is also considered a /bad/ idea, and is behaviour typical of a spammer.

Ah, OK! The thing is, there are _masses_ of people who think Usenet is a
free advertising board, and this degrades the quality of the newsgroups
for genuine users. So much so, that they get all het up and emotional
about obscure posts too.

Important point: these groups are _not_ "google" groups. Google is
merely one way (and not actually a very good way) of accessing them.
Usenet has existed since pre-history (sometime in the mid 1970s, I
think), when Google's founders were still wearing short trousers. Usenet
predates the Internet. It's only relatively recently that the Internet
has become the normal way of transmitting news.
The best way is with a "newsreader" program (For example, XNews, tin,
slrn, ....) which talks via the NNTP protocol to a "news server",
typically hosted by your ISP. Once you've experienced the capabilities
of a good newsreader, you'll not want to put up with Google!
There is no central authority for Usenet - each administrator decides
himself what groups to carry. Good places to find out more are the
groups "news.newusers.questions" and "news.software.readers".
