"drawers" in gnome are bad?

i have noticed when making drawers and adding launchers
that they work for that session,
but if i log out and back again, the launchers are
displayed, but they are "backgrounds" and cannot be removed,
activated or changed.

i am running fedora 1
Linux tuxedo 2.4.22-1.2115.nptl #1 Wed Oct 29 15:31:21 EST 2003 i686 athlon i386 GNU/Linux
