task management with groups
am 25.06.2004 21:08:17 von Karthik VishwanathHello,
There is a project underway in my lab which involves multiple users
accessing and working on my linux box. I wanted to have a common directory
where the files related to the project lived, which could be accessed by
all related users. I was thinking I could achieve this via creating a
group which had the users as memebers, but was not exactly clear about
how to go about it. Specifically, the initial questions were:
1. How do I ascertain that files created in the "project" directory will
have correct permissions to allow members of the group to access them?
2. Will there be security issues will be involved, i.e will the $HOMEs of
users be compromised/insecure?
All pointers will be appreciated.
Thanks,
-K
