Where are the minimized windows

Where are the minimized windows

am 22.07.2004 04:19:57 von heisspf

Hi,

I am using slackware 9.1 and have Dropline Gnome 2.6 installed even so I am
using fvwm2 as my desktop.

If I do use gnome-session and then minimize an open window I can't retrieve it
anymore no matter what combination of ctrl, alt, mouse clicks and Fx keys I
use. They have just vanished. They are not indicated on the taskbar as well.

Top tells me they are still open.

Any suggestions how to get those minimized windows back?

Thanks & regards

I had this problem in Gnome 2.4 and discoverd I had no "window list"
applet on my taskbar/panel.

Try right click on panel, Add to Panel --> Utility --> Window List.

This creates the "area" where your minimised windows should appear
(don't know if it's the same in 2.6)

Thanks, it's the same in 2.6. There was no need in RedHat for a window list.
At the right end of the panel is an icon and left clicking it shows the
minimized windows. That makes more sense than guessing to have an unwanted
window list applet.

Gnome and KDE tend to copy Windows in that when you hit Alt+Tab, it should
switch between programs. If that doesn't work you should be able to change
the key combo in the settings options.
