Can"t connect to Internet

A resend

Hi,

On Slackware10 suddenly I cannot connect to the Internet with my major ISP
skyinet.net. I can login, however, cannot fetch or send mail nor open a web
page. I can ping successfully with no package loss.

I redid pppsetup and in kppp deleted and reinstalled this particular ISP the
problem remained. I then did tar xf etc.tar which I back-up monthly again no
change.

With my second ISP in slackware I have no such problem.

If I boot into RH9 my major ISP skyinet.net works with no problems indicating
the problem must lay within the slackware box. this mail is now sent from RH9.

Any suggestions how I will solve this problem?

I bet you meant "packet loss", ok joke over, now i am not an expert at ppp but
a bell rings here when you say i can ping via ppp0 but not connect, it sounds
like a domainname problem to me, check that /etc/resolv.conf is getting
updated by skynet, check the nameserver IP#'s for skynet and if need be add
them in by hand.

nameserver xxx.xxx.xxx
search skynet.net

Thank you so much Richard!

I copied /etc/resolv.conf from RedHat into slackware and I was back in
business.

This mail leaves now in slackware with skyinet.net.
