Dear M Stephens,
Thank you for your answer but I still have problem to activate the Mysql
Server.
1)In fact I followed your instructions except one (net start server, in fact
it gave an error message using the command line maybe a syntax error)), I
went to the Windows services and I checked the information, and here is what
I read:
Complete Name: MysQL
Path for executable folders (translate from French excuse me): c:\ program
files\mysql\mysql Server 5.0\bin\mysql-nt ..defaults-files
Start type: automatic
Device status : started
So, I did not change something because it seemed to be good.
2) In order to give as more details as possible, I installed Mysql 5.0 and
chose "to start as a windows service" with the config wizard.
I try to create a database (it worked) from the command line etc ..( as I
mentioned in my first mail).
After that, I read the chapter 2.3.12 from the manual. I opened a Dos Window
and I tipped the following command as described in the manual : "C:\program
files\Mysql\mysql Server 5.0\bin\mysqladmin -u root shutdown and I got an
error message: connect at the localhost failed error "access denied for
'user' root@localhost"(user password "no"). I think that the problem starts
here but I don't remember that I had to give a user end password when I
followed the installing information after the download of Mysql 5.0.
Can you help (once again) me. Maybe just tell me how to settle the user name
for the root and password
Kind Regards
Laurent
