simple way to extract attachments under linux?

I'm looking for a simple automated way to extract attachments under
linux. As far as I understand now, attachments can be "encoded" in
various formats like mime or uuencode.
I've found several perl-modules and tools (like metamail) that can
handle one of these formats, but I am sure that there is a application
under linux that can handle all of them.
I dont care if its a perl-module, a C-program, a procmail-recipe
as long as I can feed in the mail and get out the attachments.
I googled for such a thing quite a while now, but suprisingly didnt find
a handy solution.
Maybe I'm seeing a problem where there isnt any!?
thnx,
peter

This is a MIME GnuPG-signed message. If you see this text, it means that
your E-mail or Usenet software does not support MIME signed messages.
The Internet standard for MIME PGP messages, RFC 2015, was published in 1996.
To open this message correctly you will need to install E-mail or Usenet
software that supports modern Internet standards.

uuencode is ancient, and you are not very likely to encounter it on the
modern Internet. MIME is pretty much all you need to worry about.

Right. Just grab a bunch of MIME-handling tools, and you'll be all set.

Thnx a lot. Thats exactely what I needed and thats why I like usenet so
much. After one gets lost in the myriads of googled information, he'll
find a way in usenet ;)
thnx
