Moving messages into IMAP folders with Maildirs and Procmail

Moving messages into IMAP folders with Maildirs and Procmail

I'd like to be able to place messages into particular IMAP folders
using Procmail recipies. My system uses Qmail and Courier IMAP as well
as Procmail. I can't actually see how the IMAP folders I see when
connecting with an IMAP are represented in the Mdirs structure and much
less how I would use Procmail to place messages in particular IMAP
folders.

Any pointers?

Thanks,
Geoff

I'm not sure about Qmail, but presuming you have shell access to the
account that contains the imap folders, but with the exception of your
inbox folder perhaps, those folders are normally just files in your home
directory or files in a subdirectory under your home directory on that
system.

Using procmail to deliver to those alternate folders is simple provided
you are running procmail on that system.

:0:
${HOME}/mail/somefoldername

If you mean that you are running procmail on another system, trying to
ue it to deliver mail to an external host that has imap folders, that
would be a bit tricker. You might be able to do it by forwarding the
mail to plussed addresses if your provider supports plussed address.

ie:

! someemail+foldername@example.net
