Yahoo Mail Quirks

Yahoo Mail Quirks

Recently, I've noticed that much of my legitimate e-mail is getting
directed to the trash folder. I can't work out why this should be so.
I could understand how Yahoo's servers could treat it as spam and
direct it to the spam folder, but why the trash folder? It doesn't
make sense.

Has anbody else out there experienced this?

The Trash folder or the Bulk folder? If the latter, then that's
correct, because SpamGuard puts spam in the Bulk folder.

"spam folder"? Yahoo! Mail has no such thing (at least not the free
version). Perhaps *you* have created a folder named "spam", but that
doesn't mean that Yahoo! Mail is putting anything in it.

It does in the UK! The bulk folder is called the spam folder, ipso
facto my mail is being sometimes sent to the trash folder.

I see.

I checked the SpamGuard settings again, and my version - probably the
US version because I use yahoo.com - has:

Do you perhaps have this option set [1]? "deleted" probably means
"moved to the Trash folder", which would be exactly what you experience.

FYI, instead of that option, I have set:

> * Save these messages in the Bulk Folder for 1 month

which does exactly what it says, i.e. it moves spam to the Bulk folder,
and saves the spam for a month.

[1] Please *check* the setting, also if you think/know that *you* have
not set/changed it, as I'm under the impression that sometimes
*something* changes the SpamGuard settings.

That's the peculiar thing about it - some legitimate emails are getting
directed straight to trash without being put in the spam folder. Lots
of obvious spam does get put in the right place however. I did already
set spamguard to keep spam for 1 week before deleting.

What I've tried now, is to delete the filters that I had set. These
may possibly have caused certain bona fide mails to get misdirected.
I'll have to give it a few days and see what happens.
