Installing XML Parser

I understand that installing xml parser module requires installing the
expat library first.

Is there anyway i can skip the expat library and yet make use of the
xml parser?

currently using AIX, perl, v5.8.2

Any particular reason for posting the same question in clpmodules while
getting help in clpmisc?
