MySQL Clustering
am 30.05.2006 13:47:34 von Ben Clewett
Dear MySQL,
I am interested in clustering for MySQL. This claims to offer the
redundancy scalability and performance we require.
One thing I am really disappointed at is that clustering seems not to
offer much Referential Integrity (RI). Specifically, Foreign Key
References.
For better or for worse we have always used RI, therefore have come to
expect this in our programs and administration tools. It's therefore an
absolute necessity.
May I ask if any member know whether this is planned, and if so, what
sort of time periods?
Thanks,
Ben.

Hello,
We are aware that some user require FK's and would like to see them
supported in MySQL Cluster.
We are hoping to offer this functionality initially through the MySQL
interface (not the NDB API) some time next year.
Look for announcements on the MySQL Cluster forum and mailing list for it's
availability.
Thanks,

FWIW this is probably not the best place to ask about the roadmap / timescale for the development of MySQL cluster - you would probably have more luck getting the information you want else where (dedicated cluster list/forum or contacting MySQL directly).
However it's possible that this (from the latest MySQL newsletter) might be of interest:

Jimmy,
Thanks for the info. I'll look out for FK's in clustering and hopefully
we can do some testing at that time.
Regards,
Ben

Try search it on howtoforge.com
Or buy a book like "high performance mysql" for reference.

mary.

Good day all
Does anybody perhaps have a good resource or ebook on how to setup
mysql clustering?
I need to learn how to set this up in order to test and present to a
client.
I tried to find info on the net and on the mysql website, but thus
far I haven't been able to find proper documentation on how to set
everything up.
If someone perhaps have the ebook version of the mysql clustering
certification study guide, that would help me as well as I might be
looking at going for the certification as well.

Hi Machiel,
Check these two links for good resources:
http://www.amazon.com/High-Performance-MySQL-Optimization-Re plication/dp/0596101716
http://www.amazon.com/MySQL-High-Availability-Building-Cente rs/dp/0596807309
AFAIK there is no up-to-date (print) book about NDB (anyone?). I've used
the MySQL online reference manual to study for the cluster
certification, so that should be enough to pass the cluster exam ;-)
