mysql hosting is a joke
am 07.06.2006 19:17:33 von Frankly
I have found them to be very misleading. they actually have an older
verison of PhpMyadmin than what I have been using. they say that when they
show mysql administrator because it is a tool. I asked how comethey dont
show Phpmyadmin as a tool and got no answer. I am very very unhappy.
the only reason i switched was for that damn tool. now I am paying more for
an older version of PhpMyadmin. inho - STAY AWAY FROM MYSQL HOSTING. this
sucks.
I was told I could download the tool - i could have done that with my other
host.

No to defend MySQL Hosting, but I'm quite sure you wouldn't been able to use
the mysqladmin tool against your old web hosts mysql server, as thise are in
99.9% configured to only accept connections from the webserver and deny all
other connections. While MySQL Hosting seems to allow you to connect from your
own desktop at home, and this way make it possible to use the mysqladmin tool.

Which service are you talking about? This one:
?
Is they a reason why you couldn't download whatever version you want
from and use it?

I was actually on the phone with a very lovely and helpful young lady from
MYSQL.
She was actually one of the nicest people I have ever talked to in regards
to tech help.
at this point I would have to take back what I said for the time being.
and thank you so much for this reply.
i top posted incase someone googled mysql hosting.
the young lady i talked to made me feel a little sorry for this post as well
as what you said.
I have a few more hours of work ahead of me. after that i will down load
the tool and if anyone is wondering
I will be happy to share how much i like it. I guess I got a little cranky
and right now I feel I should opolize to mysql
and when this is done I will go to google and have that post removed.
i would also like to add that so far i find the open source world so much
more friendly and helpful than M$.
funny thing is I am thinking that one day i wont be using any tool but make
my own forms for the database admin.
You did help me to feel better about this. I wouldnt have felt so
comfortable if a sales rep would have said the same thing.
thank you for setting me straight.

damn.. i tried to have my post removed via outlook express. i guess that
doesnt work.
tranfser of my site is not complete and thinking I should wait before
installing mysql admin.
i already created a database but not really sure if that was wise being the
transfer isnt complete yet.
with what you told me about them letting me connect the admin from my desk
top sounds good.

I finally got godaddy to stop parking my web site and was told earlier today
that I could be up and running by monday.
I just called again for from tech support and was told that the transfer
will not be complete for 14 days :(.
he told me that godaddy still has it but when I go to the web site it is no
longer parked at godaddy.
14 days wow.
