POPing yahoo folders

Is there some extension to the POP protocol that would allow me to download
messages via POP from folders that I have created in Yahoo mail? I have the
impression that I would have to move the messages back to the inbox to be
able to retrieve them via POP. Any chance that Yahoo supports IMAP or will
in the future? Do other email services (Hotmail, Gmail, etc.) have any way
to access folders via POP?

This is a MIME GnuPG-signed message. If you see this text, it means that
your E-mail or Usenet software does not support MIME signed messages.
The Internet standard for MIME PGP messages, RFC 2015, was published in 1996.
To open this message correctly you will need to install E-mail or Usenet
software that supports modern Internet standards.

No. There are no such extension to POP3. Yahoo may have implemented their
own private extension, in which case you'll have to find a POP3 client that
knows how to use it.

Call Yahoo and ask them. They are the only ones who will have an answer to
this question.

Yahoo! recently opened an IMAP access (imap.next.mail.yahoo.com) but it
has been suspended.
See

and http://go.yahoo.com/next/product_mail .

With Gmail, you can retrieve all your emails with POP (since there's no
folder).

You can (temporarily) use YPOPs! [1] instead_of/in_addition_to your
normal POP access.
YPOPs! is a small POP server which sits between your email client and
Yahoo! Mail's web/HTTP side. I.e. it speaks POP with your email client
and HTTP with Yahoo! Mail. YPOPs! allows you to download messages from
other (named) folders. Note however that it downloads these messages
*to* your email client's inbox. I.e. you can download *from* any Yahoo!
Mail folders, but only *to* your email client's inbox (because that's
all that the POP protocol can do).
I hope this helps. Please feel free to ask any questions you'd might
have.
