MX record set, no mail routed through
MX record set, no mail routed through

Hello,
I'm with a host that allows setting MX records via a web interface.
What I would like to accomplish would be re-routing emails to
parked_domain.com to active_domain.com, so that if
test@parked_domain.com gets an email, it is re-routed to
test@active_domain.com (that account exists, obviously).
I've set the MX record for parked_domain.com to
parked_domain.com IN MX 10 mail.active_domain.com.
however, no email seems to be getting through (while emails directly
addressed to test@active_domain.com arrive just fine).
Unfortunately I don't have access to smtp logs, so I can't provide any
information from there.
Any and all hints welcome!
Thanks in advance!
Thomas

Interesting that although you say you have DNS modification privs, you can't
view the MTA logs. You wouldn't happen to be attempting a DNS spoof to
hijack someone else's mail, would you?

An MX record merely specifies what host handles mail for a domain.
It does not cause recipient addresses to be rewritten. So, is the
SMTP server at mail.active-domain.com configured to accept mail
addressed to parked-domain.com? If not, you need an email forwarding
service.

This is a MIME GnuPG-signed message. If you see this text, it means that
your E-mail or Usenet software does not support MIME signed messages.
The Internet standard for MIME PGP messages, RFC 2015, was published in 1996.
To open this message correctly you will need to install E-mail or Usenet
software that supports modern Internet standards.

Yes. Here's one hint: if you are looking for help with potential DNS
issues, then posting randomly-generated garbage, instead of actual DNS data
to look at, is the same as asking a mechanic why your car doesn't run, and
giving him a picture of an automobile to look at, rather than something
with four wheels.
The only thing you will ever get are random hypothetical guesses, in
response to purely hypothetical questions that offer no real data
whatsoever. But, if you really want some help with your problem, you should
stop wasting people's time and post the actual DNS names that people can
actually analyze and investigate.

Setting the MX record, by itself, isn't enough. The server accepting
email for active_domain.com has to be configured to accept email for
parked_domain.com. If that has been taken care of, it could be that the
test mails are going to the old MX server due to the use of the cached
old MX record. Have you checked the test@parked_domain.com account to see
if the emails are turning up there?
