Body in mailto link: set quoted text?

Body in mailto link: set quoted text?

Hi

In a user administration application I provide links for the
administrator to respond to form submissions. For the ease of the
administrator I insert the body text of the form submission (composed at
the server side), in the mailto link:

Send mail to user

Now my question: It would be even better to have the body text inserted
as a quote. Of course I could cut it into lines and put a '> ' at the
beginning of each line, but I would prefer it done by the e-mail client
just the way it is set to quote when replying or forwarding. Is there a
possibility to do this?

Thanks for any comment
Markus

I doubt that there is. In the case that you are talking about the "Reply" button is a function in the MUA that tells the MUA to reformat and include the test that is being replied to while drafting a new message to the sender of the message you are replying to.

I think your best bet would be to prepend "> " to each line. One point of interest is that if you are going to quote a quoted line, you do not need to add the space, just the ">".

Thank you for your answer! I will ask the person who will actually have
to use the tool if she prefers it with or without the '> '. As it is
only for server-side processed form submissions, quoting a quoted line
will not happen; but thanks for this hint anyway!
