Is installing Crypt::SSLeay related to SSL Certs and secure sites?

Is installing Crypt::SSLeay related to SSL Certs and secure sites?

Hi
As I understand it in order to post to an HTTPS site from a Perl script
my webserver host needs to install Crypt::SSLeay. Does that in anyway
involve needing an SSL Cert?

Thanks
Pete

I would expect that all they have to do is install Crypt::SSLeay. I've never
had to do anything other than that on my home computers.

Cheers,
Rob

My host are saying they wont do it as they would have to open port 443?

Why would that be a problem? Would Port 443 need to be open for 'POST'
s to HTTPS sites?

What "host"?

HTTPS is on port 443 by default (though, of course, you can run it any
port).

If you, as a client, are trying to make an https *call* I'd be surprised
if that didn't work. That would mean you couldn't connect to most https
sites (eg: most "shopping" sites taking card payments).

And since this refers to Crypt::SSLeay I assume you are just running it
as a client.

But if you give some more detail you might get more useful answers.

either you or I have to believe it.
