Project in Malware Obfuscation

$30,000 per year for 3 years

This scholarship is funded by Computer Associates (CA) (Pacific),
starting immediately on a full-time basis for a research project
leading to a PhD.

The objective of the research is to develop generic classifications and
algorithms for recognition and reversal of types of obfuscation used to
disguise malicious code (such as viruses, worms and Trojans) and to
build an extendable engine to automate these processes.

The candidate will be based at the RMIT City campus and will visit CA
Richmond Laboratories as required.

Applicants must have an ability to read assbler code and should have a
very good Honours or four-year degree in any of the following subject
areas: mathematics, statistics, computer science or engineering.
Additional strength in working with Unix/Linux binaries, programming,
or microcontrollers may be an advantage. Applicants with good Master's
degrees in science or engineering, or industry experience, will also be
considered.

Applicants must be eligible for an RTS place, that is, be Australian
citizens, Australian permanent residents or New Zealand citizens.
