Can"t save password if Integrated Authentication is used

I'm running Windows 2003 sp1 and have Sharepoint running.

I have Integrated Authentication turned on. If i go to the web site and
enter in domain\username and password and check off 'remember password', i'll
initally log into the site fine for the first time. If i close the browser
and go to the site again, my password is not saved. i have to type it in
again.

If i were to change from Integrated to Basic Authentication, i can 'remember
password', close the browser and hit the site again and it saves my password.

Has anyone seen this before? Is this how Integrated Authentication works
where you can't save the password? I've tested on Windows XP sp2 as well as
Windows 2000 sp4, none of them save the password.

If you using IWA, you shouldn't get prompt at all if everything is
configured properly.
Internet Explorer May Prompt You for a Password

configure the url in the IE trusted zone.

Thanks for the response. I do understand why I would want to use Integrated
Authentication for users who log into the domain so they don't have to put in
a password. I'm still really perplexed about users who are outside of the
office and access the website. If they click off 'remember password' I would
think that the next time that they login to the site, they'll get a login
prompt with their password already entered (because they checked off remember
password) and all they would need to do is to click on OK to login instead of
having to retype their password. Is what i'm describing 'by design'? It's
fine if it is but i just wanted to be sure.

Well, it depends I just did a test. the 'save password' option will only
works if the domain is listed in the local intranet or trusted sites... else
you will still get prompt for password, even previously you have saved the
password.
