new yahoo mail sucks

Before I switched to Yahoo I was using Outlook Express. I really liked
the way Yahoo mail worked. I figured that Outlook Express was worse
because it came free. Now Yahoo is going to the layout that Outlook
Express uses. This is a step back it has less features and is harder to
use. The great thing about the old system is not having to use a
graphic interface. I am not going to go on any further. The whole thing
simply uses windows to do the work. The system has far less features.
Moreover it has annoying noises and irritating graphics. It seems that
features were dropped so popping sounds could be added.

What do you mean by "not having to use a graphic interface"? The old
system (and the new) *is* "a graphic interface". Do your perhaps mean
that you do not have to use the mouse? Other?

Anyway, if you don't like Yahoo! Mail and normally use Yahoo! Mail
from your own computer, then just install YPOPs! [1] and use it with
*any* normal (POP3/SMTP) 'mailer' (MUA, Mail User Agent). I.e. use the
mailer/MUA which *you* like and use it with YPOPs! to access Yahoo!
Mail.

YPOPs! is a small POP3/SMTP server which sits between your normal
mailer/MUA and Yahoo! Mail's webmail service. I.e. it talks POP3/SMTP
with your mailer/MUA and HTTP with Yahoo! Mail.

For webmail services other than Yahoo! Mail, you can use the generic
FreePOPs [2]. I.e. YPOPs! does Yahoo! Mail only and FreePOPs does loads
of webmail services, including Yahoo! Mail.

I hope this helps.

OE has never been free. One has to purchase the most insecure operating
system on the planet to use OE. Your statement is akin to thinking of the
"free bottled water" with the purchase of an airline ticket.

Bad analogy, since hardly anyone actually purchases said operating
system. One normally purchases a *system* which *includes* the
operating system, and buying a system without it or with another
operating system is nearly always at extra cost.

So to restate: Said operating system is "free" as in no or even
negative *purchase price*, but, as you imply, comes at a very high
*cost*! :-)

BTW, informed people would argue that it's not really the operating
*system* which is insecure, but the the operating *environment*. I.e.
unless you define the boundaries, "operating system" is a rather
meaningless term.

BTW 2, there was a time when OE was available on *other* platforms,
including one of the most *secure* ones! So never says "never"! :-)
