Looking For Decent Free Firewall
Looking For Decent Free Firewall
am 16.11.2006 23:25:51 von Al
I am using the free Avast anti-virus program and Ad-Aware for my personal
computer. I use a dial-up ISP. Would installing a firewall be a good idea
for me? I do go on the Internet regularly. If so, is there a decent free
firewall that's user friendly and easy to use use? I would consider myself
an intermediate user (not advanced), so I don't want one that is complicated
and assumes the user has much technical knowledge. Any advice would be
appreciated.

I use a router and XP firewal but I played around with Comodo on a friends
PC and it seemed simple enough to me.

I just uninstalled comodo because it is too complex. It is probably very
good. Just too complex for me.

Yea, and then when you decide you want to try another firewall and need to
remove ZA be prepared for the nightmare that will ensue.

Yea, well, if you have a router with firewall you don't need one.

Well, it's easy enough for anyone to install the free version of ZA on
their computer, run a sniffer (e.g. Wireshark) to inspect the network
traffic, and see for themselvers who is or isn't the "know-nothing".

Actually the current versions of ZA can be removed rather cleanly.

Worthless - it is a one way wall. Blocks stuff coming in, but not out
bound. A good hack can pull anything off your box.

It is virtually leakproof. It is free. for blocking in/out it may be the
very best. It is extraordinarily difficult to configure. It has driven
