Sorry, but I don't know if this list or a win32 list is appropriate for
this question.

=20

The Module status page says that Compress::Bzip2 2.09 failed tests on
win32. I suppose that's why "ppm install Compress-Bzip2" failed to find
anything to install.

=20

The confusing thing is that I have another system with 5.8.7.815 where
Compress::Bzip2 2.09 is installed. I don't recall if installing
activeperl installed Compress::Bzip2 or if I installed it with ppm. I'm
awfully confused because I would have expected 5.8.7 and 5.8.8 to be
binary compatible, which begs the question "how could I get it installed
if activestate can't make it pass?"

=20

I don't want to waste any time trying to uninstall 5.8.8 and install
5.8.7 only to discover that Compress::Bzip2 is just as unavailable in
5.8.7.

Thanks.

You may have gotten it from our repository:
http://cpan.uwinnipeg.ca/dist/Compress-Bzip2
There's also
http://cpan.uwinnipeg.ca/dist/IO-Compress-Bzip2
that you may want to consider.

I think you're correct, Randy. I assume I can't use IO::Compress::Bzip2
because perlapp complains that HTTP::Request requires it. And so I
didn't even try installing IO::Compress::Bzip2. Nor did I investigate
whether or not I should ignore the perlapp warning because I refuse to
keep track of a list of warnings I should and should not ignore.

When I visited http://theoryx5.uwinnipeg.ca/ppms/, from the first link
you provided, I saw the reference to the ppm command:

C:\> ppm install http://theoryx5.uwinnipeg.ca/ppms/package

I recognized it immediately. Of course, it installed without a single
problem.

The only problem I anticipate is not remembering this event the next
time perlapp says Compress::Bzip2 is missing. I'm exercising self
control by not asking further questions. LOL
