IE 7 Broken down? (2)

IE 7 Broken down? (2)

For the record, it's not only one site that is broken down, it's all of
the sites. The internet browser I'm using currently is Mozilla Firefox.

P.S. I'm new at this so I don't know what you meant by checking the
default page (.htm or .html)

Is this a problem with IIS or Internet Explorer? If everything works fine
with another browser, it seems to be a problem with Internet Explorer.

Perhaps you want to send your questions to the Internet Explorer newsgroup
instead?

IIS is a piece of server software. As you seen to be having problems
accessing websites, you probably have a problem with your *browser*.

If you are having problems with Internet Explorer (IE), then post a question
in the IE newsgroups. If you are having a problem only with Mozilla Firefox,
you'd need to seek support in a Firefox forum. If you are having a general
networking issue, then post in WindowsXP networking group,

This is an IIS group, and I doubt you'd get expert advice on IE issues here
unfortunately...

Cheers
Ken

IE 7 Broken down? (2)

I had the same problem once with IE(7?). No HTTP or HTTPS connections so no websites would load, but FTP was okay, so some software updates could still run. In IE, I went to Tools-Internet Options - Connections. Clicked on "Lan Settings". I checked "Automatically detect settings"(was previously unchecked) and unchecked "Use a proxy server for your Lan..."(was previously checked). Afterwards the I could load web pages, and the Windows network diagnostic tool reported no further erros with HTTP, HTTPS, or FTP. Some people have reported success doing the opposite of what I've done(that is, unchecking the "Automatically detect settings" checkbox, if already checked).
