whats up to all, I have been breaking my skull as to how I would create a
script that intercepts output from another application ( the application is
a console application running within a window, (hope that makes sense)) any
help would be greatly apprecated.

Not specific enough. I assume you mean a console window under a shell ?
Are you starting this app from a Perl script ?
Or is it already running and you want to try to attach onto the output ?
Or what ? Give us a scenario.
