newbie queston about character set big5

CREATE TABLE `haha` (
`haha` char(10) default NULL,
primary key (haha)
) ENGINE=MyISAM DEFAULT CHARSET=big5
insert into haha values ( 0x9f54 )

The INSERT query inserted a blank only. How could I fix it?
