Popup alert similar to yahoo messenger in PHP

Hi,

I would like to create a pop up something similar to yahoo messenger
popup which comes on the right pan of the status bar. This i planned
to alert the users via popup when he gets the mail.

Appreciate your help on this.

You cannot do something like this with PHP (I guess with PHP-GTK you
could actually do it), but if you're writing a WebApp JavaScript is your
friend ;)
