IIS Authentication

IIS Authentication

I have a server 2003 standard SP 1 enviroment with a single domain. I just
changed the admin password for the domain and now it appears IIS
authentication is having a problem. I use a program called IPSentry Sentry to
monitor the IIS Admin service. It now cannot check the service stating
access denied. Do I need to change a password somewhere for IIS?

Did you assign that admin account to the service IISAdmin and not change
the password there?

The IIS Admin Service is listed as a local system logon. So no PW adjustment
was made. Do I need to modify anything?

I think I read your problem wrong. So the error comes when your Sentry
tries to monitor the service. Seems as though you need an admin account to
be created on the local server - set a good strict password --- then in
sentry config, supply the credentials for that Admin account.

Admin account in DOMAIN has nothing to do with it. It’s that an account
needs rights to the server to monitor. Same as perflogging - you need
access.

So, (having not used Sentry- bare with me) essentially the BOX or Service
needs to be LOGGED IN as an admin account on that server or a config change
needs to be made in Sentry w/ admin account being the primary account.

Thanks Jeff for the help. Turns out it was a couple of things. IPSentry did
have an area for the password for the service, but the real problem was the
my member server needing the password cache emptied. That seemed to clear up
all the strangeness. thanks again!!
