IIS7 and Access

IIS7 and Access

am 27.06.2007 01:05:10 von hesor

Just got myself a new computer with Vista, enabled the fine new IIS7
and copied my websites to the new computer... and then the trouble
startet...

When I try to use my access database through asp classic the site
returns a jet engine error 80004005. After having spend hours and
hours of googling around I finally found an article at
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=926939 which describes the problem
and gives a solution. Great...

.... except that when I try to run the icacls command I only get an
error saying that no copying between accounts and security ids have
been done and therefore zero files has been handled...

.... and then hours and hours of googling around againg, just to end up
with nothing...

I have a lot of respect for the intention of creating as safe
enviroments as possible, but when my asp classic applications becomes
useless over-night and without any warning or info, then I get a
little pissed... The only solution I can find is to uninstall Vista
and then install XP Pro, but it can't be true that I have to go back
to an earlier windows version to make my applications work...

Any help will be received with a lot of thanks!!!!

When I try to reacht the access data I only get the 80004005 error
from the Jet Engine. When I try the work around I can't even start
IIS.

I'm re=EDnstalling Vista at the moment to see if that may do any good.
Otherwise it's back up XP...

The reinstallation didn't change anything, and I still can't solve the
problem. But I have found another solution. I'll let my old computer
running and then access the old computer with XP from my new computer
with Vista through a remote desktop. Then I may be able to do my
webdevelopment on the old computer and otherwise take advantage of
Vista.

But to be honest, it is a poor solution which I only use because that
is the only way I can keep my applications running. Had I known I
would end up with this soution, then I wouldn't have upgraded to
vista...

You probably want to figure out why your icacls command from
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=3D926939 failed. It works perfectly for
me.

Look for typos and make sure to type in the syntax yourself instead of
copy/paste. Sometimes, smart-type from Word can foil things on the
commandline with things that LOOK like quotes and dashes.

I found a solution to that - Users is called Brugere in danish and
then the icacls commands were accepted. But the result remained the
same... no matter how many times I reenter the commands or try to
restart the machine, nothing helps. The moment I try to reach the
Access Database, things stop....

It works on mine as well, and many posters I read @ iis.net
If icacls is not working, probably you targeting at the wrong user.

Have you try disabling the loadUserProfile ??

just an idea: Could all my problems be related to the fact that I use
Vista Business? The user control should be the same in alle
Vistaproducts, but on the other hand...

Nope, Business and Ultimate are the same in term of iis featuresets.
