Microsoft Updates take for ever to install

I have Server 2003 R2 SP2 running IIS

When I want to let Automatic updates install what ever it has ..it takes for
ever....I have the same exact server that isnt the web server but is the sql
back end server in this system and it applies updates like the wind....

So I have 2 servers that are clones...one is the webserver and one is the
sql server ...... what could be causing the webserver to be so slow in
applying Microsoft updates ?
