HTTP service wont start, nor will DefaultAppPool

Im doing some testing of Exchange 2007 on a new server, im trying to get OWA
to work but im having a bunch of trouble with IIS.

Im getting these errors logged in event viewer:
"The HTTP service failed to start due to the following error:
Access is Denied"

"The HTTP SSL service depends on the HTTP service which failed to start
because of the following error:
Access is denied. "

"The World Wide Web Publishing Service service depends on the HTTP SSL
service which failed to start because of the following error:
The dependency service or group failed to start. "

When i look in the IIS console the default web site is stopped as is all the
Application pool services.

When i try to start the DefaultAppPool service i get:
"The service did not respond to the start control request in a timely fashion"

The server is an x64 windows 2003 R2 SP2 and is fully up to date...

The services are set to start using the Network Service Account but i have
tried with every other account even the administrator and local system
accounts and i get the same errors...

can anyone help?

I have no idea what you mean by "the services are set to start using
the Network Service account", but you cannot change the service
accounts for any of the services you mentioned. If you change them and
things break even when you change them back, I would recommend you
reinstall the OS.

Can you explain why you are changing the service accounts (which
ones?) to Network Service?

is ok... a simple reboot fixed the problem

However what i meant was if you open up IIS right click on DefaultAppPool,
properties, the identy. That is where i was changing the account. Its
actually not the account that starts the service but its the application pool
identity
