Hyperlink to MS Access DB not working.

Hyperlink to MS Access DB not working.

am 13.07.2007 23:50:01 von Iram

Hello.
I am running Windows Server 2003 SP2 with IIS. I have created a small
intranet for my department and I have added a few hyperlinks to a few Access
2003 databases. I have configured the hyperlinks to open the DB's in "New
Windows". When I click on the hyperlinks I get a message "Do you want to open
or save this file?", I then click Open, then I get another message "The
publisher could not be verified. Are you sure you want to run this software?"
then I click Run, then nothing happens. The database never opens up. If I go
into design mode in Frontpage 2003 then press Cntrl then click on the link
the database opens fine.
Could you help me fix this problem? Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Beyond setting the correct MIME type of .mdb files on your iIS server -
there's not really a lot you can do. This sounds like a client-side issue
(i.e. how the client is handling the download).

Verify that IIS is serving the file by looking in the IIS logfiles. If IIS
is serving the file with a 200 OK status, then you need to investigate why
your client is not handling the file.

Cheers
Ken

Your right. There was a problem on the client side. I have about 15 Access
databases that I was putting on the intranet. About half worked and the other
didn't. I did alot of checking to see why they weren't opening and I found
that if the DB had an autoexec macro they would not load on from the intranet
page. So I removed all of the autoexec macros and found work arounds for them.
Now they all work.

Thanks.
