Internet printing / remote printing
Internet printing / remote printing

With IIS 7.0 (the version in Vista Ultimate), how do I set up internet
printing so that I can print to my printer from the internet? I have set it
up so that my computer shows the IIS 7.0 webpage as the default on port 80,
but it returns error on trying to navigate to [servername]/printers.
Thanks.

I don't believe IPP is available with IIS 7.0 / Vista...
Do you have any links on this?
Cheers

Also, it's an option ("internet printing") under add/remove programs,
windows vista, IIS. Why would it have been removed?
The only thing is, Microsoft provides plenty of information on how to
disable it, but nothing on how to set it up (that I could find). Perhaps
this is part of their security push.

Hi,
The only thing I can see is an Internet Print Client that can be installed
on Vista. THis allows the Vista machine to print *to* a print server that
has IPP functionality enabled on it.
IPP requires supporting RPC over HTTP/HTTPS, and that component (from what I
can remember) has never been available for installation on client machines.
You can install it on Windows Server systems. It's used for IPP, and also
for various other things (e.g. for providing Outlook RPC over HTTPS support
for Exchange etc).
Cheers
Ken

Thanks, I see that server side is unfortunately not available in Vista. I
did have IPP server in XP but it must have been a 3rd party component.
