w3svc failed to start with error 127 - specified procedure not fou

I am having problem with World wide web service. It is not starting even
though IISAdmin and RPC services are started. It gives me error 127 - the
specified procedure could not be found.

The problem started as follows.
I have windows xp professional edition with SP2 installed.
I had IIS 5.1 installed with .Net framework 2.0 and Sql server 2005 Express
edition.
Everything worked fine with this.
I then had to upgrad to Sql server 2005 Developer edition. I therefore
uninstalled Sql server Express and installed Sql server 2005.
When installing Sql server 2005 developer edition I got an error that
reporting service could not be started because default web site is not
running. I then invested the problem and found that www service did not
start. I tried to start the service but got this error. I then tried to
uninstall and reinstall IIS 5.1 but having the same problem.
I would appreciate your help with this.

This looks pretty severe.

It would be nice to know which DLL is corrupt.
First disable any anti virus, to be sure.

then install IIS Debug.

Report to us the logfile especially where the fatal error occurs.
