virtual directories
am 06.08.2007 01:30:28 von Jerry Dubuke
Hi All,
I have a default website that got a virtual directory created in it when I
installed Crystal Reports.
I want to extend that virtual directory to another website I have on that
same server.
The folder icon for the virtual directory on the default website is a little
world, but the icon in my other website is a gear...
Does this mean anything, and how can I get my other site to get the "world"
icon?

Hello,
The "little world" icon means that the virtual directory does not have its
own application but are part of its parent's (the website) application.
The gear icon mean that it has its own application.
To "get the gear icon", open properties for the Virtual Directory and
click the Create button on the Virtual Directory tab.

Hi Kristofer,
Thanks for the reply...
I am actually looking for the opposite - I want the "little world" icon on
my second site, and all I can do is get the "gear" icon.
Is there any way to create a virtual directory with the "little world" icon?

You can remove the gear icon by removing the application associated with
that virtual directory..

Do the opposite of my instructions.
Open properties for the Virtual Directory and click the Remove button on
the Virtual Directory tab.

thank you - that did the trick!
One more question...
I am using Expression web to design/code my site, and when I created the
virtual directory, Expression web does not "see" it.
Am I doing something wrong, or do virtual directories NOT show up in a web
design tool?
