ERRORS WHEN USING localhost

ERRORS WHEN USING localhost

am 12.08.2007 04:23:33 von Hank Laskin

Windows O/S 2004 Media (Proffesional Version )
Internet Explorer 7.0

Issue is with IIS and not being able to log onto my LocalHost on the web
browser.

I uninstalled IIS from my Control Panel from Windows Components and
re-installed it. I am getting online from my Internet Explorer browser.

When I attempt to open http://localhost, I receive a Page Cannot Be
Displayed message.

It is crucial that this works for me as I am using software that requires
Localhost connectivity.

I am using Port 80 and Address is Unassigned.

I check the Event Log and this is the following message I receive each time
localhost fails or if I attempt to open my software program Web-Link:
Warning Source 3SVC
Error Source DCOM

Do I need a newer version of IIS. I really do not know how to tell which
version I presently have on my computer. I checked my C:\inetpubwwwroot and
I have two folders there. One of them is the Web-Link software I need to
use. In the wwwroot folder there is .asp and various other files. This is
about as much information as I can give to you at this time.

I am a novice at computing and really need to be walked through any
procedure that could get my IIS working again. I need to use it despertaly
for a program called Web-Link from Home Automation Products.

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Please advise.

Thank you in advance for your assistance
