Can"t refer to server by server name

I am trying to set up Reporting Services on one of our servers. It is set up
and I can get to the reports by typing in http://localhost/reports but when
I try http:///reports I get page not found - this also applies
to any files in the default website. I think it is something straight
forward in IIS but I don't what it is - I am a programmer and a bit clueless
with IIS. Regards, Chris.

do you get the expected IP address when you ping 'servername'?

if not you possibly have an entry in your HOSS or DNS pointing at
another machine
