Where is Alexandria?
am 01.09.2007 14:52:38 von dennisl
Hi
I'm looking for a CVS or Subversion repository with the source code for
Alexandria. Does anybody know where it has gone?
In particular I'm looking for one file, which was previously found here:
http://cvs.apache.org/viewcvs.cgi/jakarta-alexandria/proposa l/maven/?hideattic=0

Hmmm,
it is still there but no longer accessible from the outside. Seems it
got lost when we migrated to svn.
It is on people.apache.org:/x1/home/cvs/jakarta-alexandria, just get it
through your ssh account and use /x1/home/cvs as the repository base.
Best regards
Henning

It's not lost. Nicola Ken Barozzi rescued it before it got lost. It was
moved to the Forrest SVN where it has been largely untouched until very
recently.
The Maven folk recently showed interest in working with it and Forrest
has agreed to have it move over to their SVN where they can do it
justice. This has not been actioned as yet.
For now you can find it in
http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/forrest/trunk/whiteboard/for restdoc/
But if you intend to work on it then we should really make the move to
Maven happen.

Thanks Ross, I'm aware of that discussion as I'm one of the Maven folks.
I just didn't realize that alexandria was a part of forrestdoc (or is it
the other way around).

Unfortunately this only seems to be the cvs HEAD as it was before the
move. I think the document I'm looking for was removed from cvs, judging
by the "hideattic=0" in the URL:
http://cvs.apache.org/viewcvs.cgi/jakarta-alexandria/proposa l/maven/?hideattic=0
I'll follow Henning's suggestion and see if I can retrieve it that way.

I'm not 100% sure of the history, but the README implies
forrestdoc=alexandria - there is a link in there to the mail archives
where, I presume, the move was originally discussed.
