500 error/ the pipe has been ended.

500 error/ the pipe has been ended.

Just recently users have stopped being able to download an exe file off my
website. They get the 500 error.

I turned off friendly messages and I get "The pipe has been ended."

I have looked for this message and can't find it. Anyone have an idea where
I should start looking? I added the Mime type to the folder permissions just
in cas that was it, but that did not help.

I am not sure when the problem started (I just got a call today), but the
only thing that has changed is I added a different firewall a month and a
half ago. I am going to be looking throught it, but any suggestions on this
side would be great.

Thanks,

Kevin Porter

That error message does not sound like it came from IIS (the IIS
static file handler that would be handling the .exe download does not
return error response that look like what you describe), so you may be
describing a problem with software you are running on IIS -- at which
point the issue is with that software and not IIS and you need to
consult the support personel for that software.

Can you disclose the ISAPI Filters loaded for your download website,
as well as the Application Mappings for .* and .exe at the vdir
containing the .exe file?
