You can't. It's primarily javascript.

You say you are a novice, but do you realize it? The reason I ask is that
the site you admire doesn't work at all without javascript turned being on
(which is a very inept programming method) and has very bloated coding
besides. Furthermore, opening new, partial-sized windows is really one
crap way to present main content. That site flunks in my school, and by a
large margin.

How do you recommend photo viewing?

Tell ya what, I'll let you see it in action.

Go to my website:

http://www.neredbojias.com/

The first thing you'll see is 2 columns of (internal) links separated by an
image. A little below the image at the bottom of the right-hand column is
a link called "Exbibit your own Images". Just above that is "Personal User
Image Page." Visit the former first and submit a pic from your computer.
Then visit the User Image Page, view your pic, and see what I think an
image gallery _should_ be like. Feel free to check a few of the other
links as well.

Those are mighty big thumbnails. Almost bigger than toenails in fact:-)

Perhaps this photoalbum a good example to:
http://www.oukje.nl/fotoalbum/
Im not an designer (that shows), my dayjob isn't even computer related, but
I learn a lot just by lurking around here.
the photoalbum was in fact created with the help of some usefull (CSS) links
posted here.
Would advise the OP to stick around here and learn.

Cheers,
Sam

But, whatever they are called, they are a good size and any less
would be a nuisance on this particular site.

Perhaps you might consider making the design more fluid. Apart
from aesthetic matters, if you allowed the thumbnails to fill the
horizontal space better, you would be make the page easier to
use, especially for a page that contained a great deal more
thumbs.

But wait, you have thought of this to some extent, when I stretch
your page over two of my monitors, ie. bigger that 1600px across,
a 4th photo appears on the right instead of wrapping.

I suspect you have excessive paddings and margins or widths
around your list items. Have not looked at your css.

How about sticking around on the bottom rather than on the top of
postings?

I haven't done a lot of checking, when it comes to multiple monitors and
higher resolutions.
It does seem to work well under different browsers.
Have to look into the paddings/margins/width stuff, i'm not sure how I did
it
and haven't got the time right now.
Would it be possible to give me an screenshot of the 4th appearing photo?

btw. did you just do ray me or what? ;)

Cheers,
Sam

The multiple monitors possibilities are not important to check.
It was just that it occurred to me looking at your html that you
might be floating the lists somehow and I wondered why are they
wrapping so early. So, instead of looking at your page on one
size monitor (1200 x 1600) I looked at it on a much wider one (in
effect)

What would you learn from a screenshot? It is just like with 3
thumbs in a row but with a 4th? But I will if you insist further.

There was a spark that flew off one of my antennae a few minutes
ago, perhaps that was it?

Seriously, (sorry Travis, not to lighten up completely at all
times as you suggested), you have so many style sheets and the
css is so complex that it might be tricky to sort this one out.
Normally, one just sets some reasonable margings/paddings on th
little float boxes and it all works well. But you have very
complicated positional complexities.

It is definitely not something that I would recommend as a model
for the OP.
