Hello

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

We previously had a mySQL server installed on the default C:Drive.
We have now upgraded to a new box with a faster processor, new drives,
etc. I have taken the C:Drive out of the original box, and slaved it
into the new box.
I will install mySQL on the new box's C:Drvie. My backups are a couple
of days old, so I want to transfer the databases as they exist to the
new system drive.
I will copy the directories containing the databases from under the data
directory (slave drive) to the newly installed data directory. I will
also copy over the ibdata1 file, as well as the my.ini file.
This will then give me working databases again?

I tried this on my own computer, and it seems to work, but I want to be
sure.

Thanks you

Hi

Yes it will work; no worries but make sure you should stopped mysql service,
when you copy the old data to new place.

1. Stop the mysql service
2. take the backup of old data folder
3. stop the service (check once again)
4. make sure you installed same version
5. copy the my.ini file (if incase you using same folder and path structure)
6. take backup of newly installed data folder ( in new C drive)
7. replace the new data folder to old data folder.

Finally you will succeed.
