Good editors

Hi everyone,
I'm looking for an editor which not taking much memory and steel have
handy functionality, like code completion and stuff like that.
right now I'm using zend studio as my main environment, but this
software take lots of memory and when I'm trying to work simultaneous
with photoshope and my wamp server my computer starting to get really
slow,
I can work with notepad++ that mush less heavier, but have much less
handy functionalities.
Does someone know a batter combination between those two?
a software that is steel a little more handy than notepad++ , but not
heavy?
thanks

i regularly use 'brain age' on my ds to try to improve my memory and
prefrontal cortex function. as for steel...it has so many uses, to call it
'handy' would be the understatement of the year! i'm not sure how much it
contributes to code completion and 'stuff like that' since i can't think of
any portion of a computer that consists of steel...except maybe the screws.

(old recall) a man whose elbow was hurting badly went to the doctor and
said, 'doc, my elbow hurts whenever i move it like this [showing the doctor
the motion].' the doctor replied, 'don't move it like that.'
zend is the best there is.
sounds like your computer needs a little more regular exercise and to eat
some wheaties in the morning before work.

i have noticed that when running zend, if i pick up my computer it does seem
a bit heaver than when i'm just running notepad++. that's odd.
> Does someone know a batter combination between those two?
well, i sometimes find that just changing the amounts of different
ingredients can change the whole taste of what it is that you're making. try
to use just the egg-whites. see if that helps. it should be less
cholesterall too. it could be a win/win situation.
> a software that is steel a little more handy than notepad++ , but not

you know, that may just explain why my computer feels like it gained a few
pounds when zend is running. i didn't know it was made of steel. that would
account for it. thanks, i'm not quite as baffled now.

I used to work for a French company here in the US. Every three months I
would go to Paris for a week or so on business. I speak no French, and the
French are obsessive about their language. I found that all I had to do was
try to say a something in what very little French I could muster and they
would answer me in English. All they wanted was the courtesy of the
attempt.
A fellow employee from the US spoke French. They moved him from the US to
France so that he could translate the manuals that they had written first in
English (by English speakers) into French. He found that as his French
improved, he encountered more trouble from the French people because they
thought he was a Frenchman who spoke poorly rather than (as at the
beginning) a foreigner who spoke French pretty well.
You, a foreigner, tried to speak in English, and so you should have been
treated with respect -- more so than afforded to English speakers who cannot
put together a decent sentence.

Gandalf, I didn't know what post you were referring to. I just went back
and checked. He wasn't criticizing you on you language or spelling (If you
check you will find that he usually has as many spelling errors as you do).
He was making a joke! Perhaps the language barrier made you think it was an
insult. It wasn't. It was just humor that was "lost in translation". He
also gave some good answers AND advice. The good advice is general. Before
asking people something, posters should at least have done minimal homework.
That was what the reference to "google" was about. The same question had
been asked many, many times.

not by accident, gosha. just as with this op, i had a bit of fun with your
lack of forethought, and in the form of a joke that was perhaps taken the
wrong way. that's part me and part of the nature of this medium. i can only

geesh. i was kidding around. that still doesn't mean that taking it upon
yourself to google or search this group for suggestions first, is a bad idea
or would be greatly appreciated by all, and give you immediate answers
without you having to resort to even having to struggle with a question
written in something other than your native tounge.
search this ng for my posts. notice, grammar, spelling, punctuation? hell, i
don't even capitalize! i was freeking joking with you!

Hehe, here too. The major annoyance is it breaks the threading in Opera.

PS Pad, Crimson Editor for the real light side.
I prefer PHPEd, which is still fairly heavy, but doesn't rely on Java,
so not as heavy as Zend.
Also, I find Zend very expensive for what you get. PHPEd isn't cheap,
but at least you get 1 years worth of upgrades, last I remember you
didn't with Zend (but I could be wrong).
Try the trial of NuSphere PHPEd 5, works for me, but you may find
different :)

Hahaha.
You're challenge is the same as the fabled freight-hauler who wanted an
electric truck.
You can either have power OR efficiency - but not both.

$50-$100 worth of memory upgrades should solve your problem.

false dichotomy. the two are unrelated. both can be had.

Well, I guess this is the cnntp problem. Yesterday, cnntp was reporting
the correct number of new articles, but wasn't able to provide bodies
for some of them, including Steve's ones and several others (including
this one from you). I don't want to know what happened between cnntp
maintainers and Steve ;) but I generally don't feel happy using the
server that swallows any ham articles. That's why the new one, let's
look how it goes -- by now, all articles intact, so that I can fully
enjoy his polemic talent :)).
