Plug-Ins

Hi

Is there a place where we can find a list of free plug-ins for FM ?? I
recall FM website had something like that many years ago, but I don't think
they still have, or if so, I can't find it anymore.

I'm searching for a plugin that will allow me to create a .txt file using
info from my database, or is this possible from FM itself ?? (choose network
location, create file with custom name and send data into the file, close
the file ??

I was using the File Plug from WMotion, but would like a new one and also
free, paying everytime for updated plug just because I update FM start to
piss me off.

What I have done is this. No plug-ins needed. I use windows XP, but previous
versions of windows should do the same. Don't know about OSX.

Goto your system and select add printer. (I presume you know how to do
that). In the PRORT selection pup up you'll find an item called
File (Print to file). select that. In the next window select
general>generic/text only. And finish the process. Now on to filemaker, go
printing and select this printer
And print like normal. Select a place and name for your print and do it. You
will find the file, completely normal text. But be aware to use only just
text fields, containers don't print (which is understandable)

There are several ways to do this within FileMaker itself.

The simplest is to export records to a text file. File >> Export Records
gives you a choice of formats, and the ability to select which fields
are exported in what order. You can choose Tab-Separated text or any of
several other file formats for the export. Fields end up separated by
Tab characters, records by carriage returns. If you do a Find and Sort
before you do the export, only the Found records will be exported, in
the Sort order.
