state saving letter algorithm
state saving letter algorithm

I'm not sure if I titled it right.
Im looking for more information on the sites that use letter/number
strings to represent a saved variable combination state. Its short, maybe
10-14 characters normally which knocks out md5 and other hashes. Im
thinking it would have to be reversible...
An example:
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=cZxj
any ideas where it comes from or how it functions? Id love to use it in
other types of applications, and I've seen it all over the place.
