I'm asking again, thinking I might not have been clear.
Downloaded the apache 2 for windows zip files, extracted them.
Then went to the folder where they were xtracted to and attempted to launch
the install (as it says in the tutorial on teh internet), but for some
reason windows doesn't recognize.
I have XP Pro, and it says that should be enough.

I don't use Gates' Universal Computer Virus. However, you'd
get a lot farther if you'd post the exact error message(s) you
get when trying to run the install files. I assume they're
..exe files or .bat files you're trying to install from.

um.. Gates' Computer Virus? I dunno what that means.
I would'nt call this an error. When I attempt to launch the appache install
file well it isn't recognized by Windows, thus what ends up happening is
that I get a dialog box that asks me which program I wish to use to run the
file.
This much I understand. Windows isn't recognizing the files for whatever
reason. I'm sure the files are extracted ok (maybe they're not) but I did
run the extraction and a bunch of files did end up where I wanted them to be
extracted to.

A joke isn't funny, even to the teller, when it has to be
explained. Gates' Universal Computer Virus == Windows.

As I said, I don't run windows, so what I have to say is of
doubtful value. However, it weems to me that if you're experiencing
a failure there are likely to be some messages that would provide
meaningful information to the folks who CAN help. If not error
messages, log-file entries, then something like "can't find X" or
"unrecognized file: X". What I'm suggesting is that a more
complete description, step-by-step, with pointers to the apache
installation document you referred to earlier, and whatever
messages you might see at each step, might help the folks who
can help.

Ahh. I feel pretty dumb now. Gates' Resource Pig (GRP from here on in) ends
up not being the issue. I figured it out. THe issue was the download file
itself. It wasn't doing what it was supposed to. I went to another site and
sourced the files from that site and it works fine. IT's all up and runnng
now, and from here on my questions will be a bit more relevant to Apache
itself.
